The Blueys Beach House is a family holiday home, replacing a 1970’s bungalow on the site. It sits directly behind the dunes, with views east over the beach to the Pacific Ocean, and west up to the mountain range. The building was designed to maximise these two views, to make the most of the temperate climate, to provide rugged and flexible accommodation for large family gatherings, and to give a sense of seclusion from neighbouring suburban houses. The building comprises two parallel pavilions sitting side-by-side. The larger pavilion is more enclosed and contains all the core spaces. On the upper floor, there is an open plan living/dining/kitchen space with a bay window overlooking the beach, and two bedrooms. On the lower floor, two additional bedrooms and a store room. The smaller pavilion is simpler and more open, containing a single large living space on both floors. The upper level has bifold doors opening across the full width of the pavilion to decks, both front and back, providing a true indoor/outdoor space. The predominant materials are exposed hardwood timber framing, rendered masonry and corrugated steel. Construction was completed in 2005. The Blueys Beach House was featured on the Foxtel Lifestyle Channel in 2006.
